About
With warmth, curiosity, and genuine care, Madi (she/her) aims to create a therapeutic relationship that is grounded in your sense of safety and autonomy. Through her trauma-informed approach, she works to understand you within the context of your life, and create a supportive space where you can reconnect with yourself to explore your experiences freely, holistically and without shame.
Drawing from various therapeutic approaches, Madi supports you to deepen your understanding of yourself while exploring your emotions and their physical sensations. Together, you’ll move towards feeling, processing, skill-building, or problem-solving at a pace that feels right for you. She works collaboratively with you to ensure you feel grounded and present throughout your counselling journey.
As a student counsellor, Madi brings over six years of experience as a social worker providing counselling and advocacy to survivors of sexual and intimate partner violence. Her work and passions encompass supporting clients in navigating challenges related to trauma, anxiety, life transitions, sex, sexuality, self-esteem, religious trauma/purity culture, embodiment and empowerment. Madi warmly welcomes members of the queer community, those within non-traditional relationship structures. She is deeply honoured to work with anyone who feel they may be a good fit, and provides both individual and relationship counselling.
Madi primarily draws from an intersectional feminist and anti-oppressive frameworks, utilizing somatic, client-centered, polyvagal, and solution-focused approaches. This means that she seeks to understand how each person's unique context can impact their mental health and wellbeing, explores the role of the body and nervous system in those experiences, and builds upon your inherent strengths and wisdom in navigating challenges. As a social worker, Madi is deeply committed to social justice and advocacy and can offer support in navigating complex legal systems or accessing other external resources.
Madi maintains balance by spending quality time with loved ones, and connecting with herself through heels dance or intentional rest. She also loves any spontaneous outdoor adventure, and you might find her backcountry hiking, camping or skiing!
Madi is a cisgender, non-disabled, first-generation Canadian with Croatian roots, currently living on the unceded and traditional territories of the Katzie, Kwantlen, Semiahmoo, Tsawwassen, and Coast Salish peoples.
