About
My name is Bryanna Cassidy, pronouns she/ they. I am a queer, neurodivergent student counsellor of mixed European descent, living as an uninvited settler on the traditional territories of the Lekwungen – speaking peoples (The Songhees, Esquimalt and W̱SÁNEĆ nations). I have lived experience as and am passionate about supporting those who are gender or sexually queer, neurodivergent, non-monogamous, live with Ehlers Danlos Syndrome or other chronic health concerns, or are a part of the BDSM/ kink community. Additionally, I have education and experience supporting folks with pregnancy, childbirth and parenting.
I value integrity, curiosity, creativity and connection. As a counsellor, that means that I show up as my authentic self, take a non-judgmental, neuro affirming and culturally responsive approach, prioritize informed, collaborative consent, and work with people to co-create a counselling experience that is in alignment with their values and goals. It is important to me to create a safe environment where people can be free to show up as and where they are.
Working through a disability justice and queer theory framework, I bring in elements of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Expressive Arts Therapy and Emotion-focused Therapy. I believe that so much healing can happen when we are able to contextualize our experiences, find safety within ourselves, and connect to our environment and community.
I have a BA in Psychology and Visual Arts and am currently completing my Masters of Counselling at City University. During my free time, I love to meander through the forest, splash along the shoreline, or experiment with new crafting techniques. I am almost never without my dog, a good snack, and a pen.
