Jordana, who usually goes by Jo, identifies as a gender-fluid, queer, Pagan, and Hispanic-Canadian. Jo has lived in different cities and countries, including Saudi Arabia, the traditional territories of the Kanien'kéha Nation (so-called Montreal), the ancestral semiautonomous lands of the Ngöbe-Buglé, Emberá-Wounaan, Guna Yala (so-called Panama), and currently on the unceded and occupied lands of the Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish Nation). Jo speaks 3 languages fluently, English, Spanish and French, with previous experience as a linguist (teacher and translator).

Jo’s work as a front-line support worker at the Howe’s Sound Women’s Centre (HSWC) focuses on gender diversity inclusion and trauma-informed practices. They are especially inspired by intersectional feminism and a multicultural framework. Their work in the community also involves volunteering as a committee member with Pride Squamish and occasionally volunteering at the BC SPCA.

As a counsellor-in-training, Jo's orientation is primarily psychodynamic and Jungian, with an emphasis on psychoeducation and narrative approaches. This means focusing on the psychological roots of emotional suffering by interpreting patterns in emotions, thoughts, and beliefs in order to gain insight into the self. The Jungian perspective highlights the significance of exploring metaphors and symbols to connect with the language of the unconscious.
During counselling, Jo supports clients in deconstructing their experiences to identify beliefs and narratives they are holding about themselves and their experiences, while providing helpful psychoeducation along the way. They are especially interested in supporting those who struggle with depression, anxiety, and trauma bonds.

Jo is consistently curious about human nature, thus open to learning new perspectives and adjusting as needed with new knowledge. Their focus is always based on compassion, empathy, and building a strong therapeutic relationship.
