About
Amina (she/her) is a cisgender, queer, Romanian immigrant who humbly and gratefully acknowledges that she is an uninvited settler on the unceded, traditional lands of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Səl̓ílwətaʔ (Tsleil-Waututh), and Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish) Nations of the Coast Salish peoples. She is a student counsellor and is currently completing a master’s in counselling psychology.
Growing up as an immigrant, Amina’s therapy journey started when trying to understand her own identity and sense of self. Amina recognizes and employs a framework conscious of intersectionality that acknowledges a multitude of forces of oppression. As such, she aims to facilitate a space for counselling in which there is an emphasis on collaboration and personal growth.
Amina’s main approaches are rooted through an anti-oppressive, sex positive and trauma informed lens. She aims to foster a compassionate and welcoming space where clients can explore and freely discuss their anxieties, traumas, kink/fetishes, self-esteem, and barriers within existing relationships. She provides counselling to all individuals and has ample experience working within the 2SLGBTQIA+, poly, sex work and neurodivergent communities.
Amina provides a warm, friendly, and confidential space where the client can feel safe, challenged, and have autonomy to explore whatever is on their mind. Her therapeutic areas of interests are solution focused therapy, narrative therapy, intersectional feminism, and sex positive interventions within a holistic trauma informed framework.
When not working as a counsellor, Amina can be found practicing shibari, climbing rocks and cuddling animals.
