About
Becca is a Black, cisgender, and queer Student Counsellor. Becca uses she/her pronouns and is of Caribbean descent, born to parents who both immigrated to “Canada”. She is a settler on stolen territories of the səl̓ílwətaʔɬ (Tsleil-Waututh), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and xʷməθkʷəy̓ əm (Musqueam) Nations. She is currently completing her Master of Arts degree in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University.
Becca sees counselling as a collaborative process for healing to happen in the client’s life. She works from a person-centered approach, which sees the client as the expert in their own lives and approaches each session with care and empathy. Becca works from a trauma-informed and anti-oppressive lens while also recognizing that cultural differences and traditions must be considered when working with clients.
Becca works from a social justice and intersectional approach. She is sex worker-affirmative and invites you to speak on issues surrounding sex, pleasure, and sexuality.
Becca aims to create a safe space for you to discover your strengths and hopes to empower you to speak your truth, especially concerning difficult experiences that you have faced in the past. Becca has experience being the client, and has experience with issues surrounding mental health, body issues and trauma. She would be honoured to join you alongside your healing journey.
In her spare time, Becca enjoys making playlists, reading thriller novels, journaling, doing yoga, and watching reality TV with her friends.
