About
Every part of you is welcome in your counselling conversations with Ivan – the tender, the tough, and all the tricky parts in between. The stories you have told a thousand different ways and the ones just waiting for a soft place to name out loud for the very first time. The part of you that is pretty sure this might be a good next step, and the part that might still be a little nervous anyway. Ivan works with those in his care to help make sense of it all, together.
Ivan’s healing work is shaped by his lived & cultural experiences as a Black, queer immigrant of mixed Afro-Caribbean, Tamil & Kalinago ancestry as well as his professional training in trauma-informed, decolonial approaches. His counselling style integrates humanistic, relationship-focused, behavioural and experiential therapies including aspects of narrative, somatic, attachment & mindfulness-based work.
He is a Registered Social Worker and graduate of the University of Victoria, where he completed his social work training grounded in Indigenous approaches to helping & healing.
Counselling Focus
Ivan specializes in working with queer, trans, immigrant, refugee, and BIPOC adults navigating:
